Here is the list. It was much harder this year than in years past, which i guess means it was a good year for music. The stuff that i left off is still really good.

Finally!

Josh Blogs

After more than a year of waiting, the last of the “complete recordings” Lord of the Rings soundtracks is finally available. Return of the King had the finest music of the trilogy, in my opinion. I can’t wait for this. It’s one whole disc longer than the other two - four for the score, and a fifth featuring the whole thing in surround sound. Glee!

I feel so… complete

Josh Blogs, Music Reviews

In the city this weekend we were each allowed to buy one needless item for ourselves. I chose the complete recordings of the score from Fellowship of the Ring. Three CDs of score and a DVD of the whole thing in surround sound. It has EVERYTHING on it, down to Gandalf’s singing as he rides into the Shire. It’s scrumptious, and it reinforces my feeling that this is the greatest and most important film music since the original Star Wars. I can’t wait for Return of the King!

Highly recommended.

I do have to note that like last year, there is a disc that probably belongs on the list that i inexplicably never purchased. Last year it was Radiohead’s “Hail to the Thief”, and this year it is Wilco’s “A Ghost is Born”. Wilco fans, please forgive me, I’m sure it’s awesome, i just never had a chance to grab it!

On with the list….
